Visit the archaeological site

Discover the nearby cenotes
In the outskirts of Tulum are some beautiful places, including the natural pools which most of them are connected by underground rivers. Close to this area are the Sac Actún and Dos Ojos systems, which are connected between them according to recent discoveries. Together, they are the longest flooded cavern system in the world.
Yal-Kú is a beautiful inlet located about 17 mi (30 km) north of Tulum. An underground river flows into the cove and connects to the sea. It is an excellent place for snorkeling since it has calm waters and different fish species. Discover this piece of heaven in your upcoming vacation at the Riviera Maya.
Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve
Since 1987 it is a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and a protected natural area with astounding beauty. Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve is south of Tulum and comprehends both the inland surface and 74 mi (120 km) of coral barriers on the coastline, that is part of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System. Sian Ka’an is a Mayan name that means the origin of heaven and is home for jaguars, peccaries, tapirs, manatees, and dozens of bird and reptile species. The undersea along the coastline houses lobsters, queen conch, and sea turtles, among other species.
About 12 mi (20 km) south of Tulum, is the Muyil archaeological zone with only a few temples and a moderate visitors flow. There are two beautiful nearby lagoons: Muyil and Chunyaxché. There are some boat excursions to discover the mangroves in this side of the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, plus dipping into its refreshing waters.
